Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI)
ANI, also known as weak AI, is designed for specific tasks and operates within predefined parameters. Examples include virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa, as well as recommendation algorithms used by streaming services and online retailers.
While ANI has made remarkable advancements in automating routine tasks and enhancing efficiency, its scope is limited to the tasks it's programmed for.
Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)
AGI represents a significant leap forward, as it possesses human-like intelligence and can understand, learn, and apply knowledge across diverse domains. AGI systems could perform any intellectual task a human can do. Achieving AGI remains a focal point of AI research, as it promises to revolutionize industries, accelerate scientific discoveries, and solve complex societal challenges.
However, AGI also raises ethical concerns regarding control, bias, and potential societal disruption.
